Mgahinga is a spectacular park with inactive volcanoes and lies in Kisoro, Southwestern Uganda. It protects more than golden monkeys and mountain gorillas in one habitat.

Mgahinga also has a record of other faunal species such as elephants, buffaloes, jackals, bushbucks, leopards and avifaunal species totaling up to 184 species. Majority of Mgahinga’s bird species are Albertine rift endemic species including Kivu ground thrush.

Day 1: Kampala via Mbarara to Mgahinga NP with photography at the Equator crossing

Early morning after a hefty breakfast, set off from Kampala to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park 8-9 hours’ drive. This road trip takes you via Masaka –Mbarara and en-route, expect to make a stopover at the Equator crossing for photography or perform a water experiment. From Kayabwe, continue to the Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch break and later, proceed up to the gorilla safari lodge inside the park nearby Kisoro.

Day 2: Mgahinga Gorilla Trekking Tour Experience and relax

Enjoy a hefty breakfast and after, set off from your lodge for orientation about gorilla trekking guidelines in Ntebeko. You will be allocated an experienced park ranger guide who will accompany you on a search for Nyakagezi group. This adventure will go for 2-6 hours with guarantee of an hour for you to learn more about the behaviors of mountain gorillas, and taking pictures. After, you will get back to the lodge to have a relaxed evening.
